Data Deletion & Account Removal

🗑️ Account Deletion Overview

At FashionLife, we respect your right to control your personal data. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. This page explains what happens when you delete your account, what data is removed, and how to request deletion.

📋 What Data Gets Deleted

When you delete your FashionLife account, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Account Information: Name, username, email, phone number, and password
  • Profile Data: Profile photo, bio, location information, and preferences
  • Content: All posts, photos, comments, and captions you created
  • Messages: Private messages and chat histories (from your account)
  • Transaction History: Purchase and sales records (for your account)
  • Payment Information: Saved payment methods and wallet balance
  • Preferences: Settings, notifications preferences, and blocked users list
  • Location & Device Data: Saved locations and connected devices

⏱️ What Data Remains

For legal and business reasons, some data may be retained:

  • Transaction Records: Anonymized transaction history for accounting purposes (7 years for tax compliance)
  • Dispute Data: Information related to disputes or chargebacks (as long as needed)
  • Legal Holds: Data held for litigation or regulatory requirements
  • Backup Data: May exist in backups for up to 90 days
  • Other Users' References: Messages from other users mentioning you may remain in their accounts

🔐 How to Request Account Deletion

You have multiple options to request account deletion:

Option 1: Self-Service Deletion (Recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account:

  1. Log in to your FashionLife account
  2. Go to Settings → Account & Privacy
  3. Scroll to "Delete Account"
  4. Click "Delete My Account"
  5. Enter your password to confirm
  6. Review the data that will be deleted
  7. Click "Permanently Delete Account" to confirm

⚠️ This action cannot be undone. You will lose access to all your data.

Option 2: Email Request

Send us an email if you can't access your account:

Include "Account Deletion Request" in the subject line and verify your identity by including:

  • Your full name
  • Email address associated with your account
  • Username
  • Reason for deletion (optional)

Option 3: Request Data Export First

Get a copy of your data before deletion:

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security
  2. Click "Download My Data"
  3. Wait for your data export (usually within 24 hours)
  4. Download the exported file
  5. Then proceed with account deletion

Your data will be provided as a portable JSON/CSV file for your records.

⏳ Deletion Timeline

Here's what happens after you request deletion:

Immediately:
Your account is deactivated and hidden from search
Within 24 hours:
Profile, posts, and messages are removed from our servers
Within 48 hours:
Data is removed from our caching systems
Within 90 days:
Data is purged from all backups

🚫 What You Cannot Undo

⚠️ Important: Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted:

  • You cannot recover your account or any of your data
  • Your username becomes available for other users to claim
  • You cannot access your purchase history or seller account
  • All followers and following relationships are removed
  • Wallet balance and unused credits are forfeited

🤔 Alternatives to Deletion

Before deleting your account, consider these alternatives:

  • Deactivate: Temporarily hide your profile without deleting data
  • Privacy Settings: Make your profile private and limit who sees your content
  • Block Users: Block specific users if you have safety concerns
  • Delete Content: Remove posts and photos while keeping your account
  • Opt-Out: Stop receiving communications without deleting your account
